Skechers USA assumes distribution in Philippines to fuel growth

Skechers USA Philippines will now be responsible for distributing company products in the country.

US-based footwear company Skechers has transferred distribution rights in the Philippines to a new entity in a bid to support its growth in the region.

The company’s products will now be distributed by Skechers USA Philippines, which is operated by Skechers USA.

However, the prior distributor Trendworks International will continue to sell Skechers products in the country through the end of this year.

Skechers USA chief operating officer David Weinberg said: “The Philippines has immense potential for Skechers, and with our dedicated team focused on growth and delivering the integrated capabilities of Skechers, we believe this step accelerates that potential.

“With Skechers’ appealing lifestyle collections, groundbreaking comfort innovations and our corporate support, we believe the Philippines can become a key market for us in Southeast Asia.”

The company’s full range of lifestyle and performance footwear will be available in Skechers retail stores in the Philippines. The company will also offer apparel and accessories.

Skechers recently opened a store in Alabang Town Center and is set to open another one in Ayala Malls Manila Bay soon.

In the first half of next year, the company plans to open an additional ten to 12 concept stores.

Separately, Skechers products will be available in key department and specialty stores.

Skechers USA Philippines country manager Suzette Pasustento said: “With this new dedicated approach, we will be able to reach more of the 100 million men, women and children in this country and offer them a wider selection of great Skechers products through expanded channels.

“We are presently in the first phase of re-establishing the brand in the market: setting up new offices in Manila, implementing a distribution centre, and we opened our first new store this month.

“In 2022, we will introduce new product categories, open more retail locations and expand our door count with new retailers, as well as launch a comprehensive marketing campaign.”
