Sports technology provider Stack Sports has purchased two online platforms Affinity Sports and Blue Sombrero from American retail company DICK’S Sporting Goods.
Affinity Sports offers youth sports organisations and national governing bodies with new software management technology.
Blue Sombrero develops websites, registration, and league management tools for youth sports organisations and governing bodies across baseball, soccer, football and other sports.
The acquisition of both brands is expected to strengthen Stack Sports’ presence in the sports software industry.
The solutions will now cater to more than 25,000 sports organisations.
Stack Sports chief executive officer Alex Alt said: “The acquisition of Affinity Sports and Blue Sombrero accelerates our path of transforming the sports experience for all.
“By combining the assets of these two youth sports technology companies with our existing Cloud-based technology assets, we’ve created an industry leader with the most comprehensive software suite for sports organisations worldwide.
“We now have the largest customer base in the industry that will rely on us to help them run, manage and organise their teams and organisations. This is very exciting for us and for the entire industry. We welcome the Affinity Sports and Blue Sombrero team members to Stack as they will be instrumental in servicing customers and creating a strong future together.”
Stack Sports will be able to focus on technology solutions for youth sports leagues and their affiliates whereas DICK’S Sporting Goods will continue to provide youth athletes with equipment and apparel.
Furthermore, both parties signed a strategic partnership agreement that allows DICK’S Sporting Goods to serve as the official sporting goods retail partner of Stack Sports.
The agreement will also see Stack Sports act as an official club and league technology partner for the sporting goods retailer.
