US retailer Target has launched a same-day delivery service, offered through its internet-based delivery unit Shipt.

The same-day delivery service is available via Target.com. Customers will be able shop from 65,000 items, with the choice of their orders delivered to their home in an hour.

Customers can use their REDcard for making payments, which will give them a 5% discount on their purchases. They can also take advantage of weekly ad promos, such as a $5 Target GiftCard for every three items purchased.

“We’ve made it even easier for our guests to shop at Target – while still getting the great value, curated product assortment and helpful guest service they’ve come to expect.”

Customers who intend to try out Shipt’s delivery service can sign up for a free four-week trial or pay a $9.99 delivery fee for each order on the website, which will give them the benefits of same-day delivery without the need for an annual membership.

Target senior vice president of digital Dawn Block said: “With same-day delivery now available directly within the Target.com experience, we’ve made it even easier for our guests to shop at Target – while still getting the great value, curated product assortment and helpful guest service they’ve come to expect.”

Shoppers can find same-day eligible items, such as grocery, household essentials, pets and baby, in one section on Target.com, making it easy for them to order items they’ve purchased before or search specific categories. The company said that this makes shopping and delivery easy and fast.
