Income from merchandise sales alone, excluding other operating income, followed the same pattern.
It rose 23% YoY in the second quarter and 21% across the first half.
Trent, which runs several retail formats in India, continued to expand its physical footprint during the period.
These are the fashion department chain Westside, the value apparel retailer Zudio and the supermarket business Star, which focuses on grocery and fast-moving consumer goods.
The retailer added ten Westside stores and 17 Zudio stores in the second quarter of FY27.
Over the full first half of the financial year, net additions came to 11 for Westside and 36 for Zudio.
The figures follow the first quarter, which ended on 30 June 2026.
Profit after tax rose 26% YoY to Rs5.32bn, while operational revenue increased 19% to Rs56.66bn.
Operating EBITDA was reported at Rs8.47bn, a gain of 36%.
At the time, Trent chairman Noel N Tata said: “The business delivered encouraging performance during the quarter notwithstanding continuing macroeconomic volatility and geopolitical events.”
He added: “While external market conditions may influence demand patterns from time to time, our performance is fundamentally anchored in our ability to offer relevant and aspirational products, remain attuned to evolving customer preferences, and respond with agility.”
It was reported in July that Westside planned to open up to 100 outlets a year, a substantial step-up from its previous rate of expansion.
The new stores would be concentrated in India’s northeastern states.
The chain would also deepen its presence in existing hubs, including Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Earlier this year, Trent’s board approved a capital raise of Rs25bn ($260m), with most of the funds allocated to physical store growth.
