Global apparel retailer UNIQLO is set to open stores in Houston and Dallas, Texas, US as part of its North American expansion.

The move is a key element of the brand’s strategy to operate 200 stores in North America by 2027.

Scheduled to open in autumn/winter 2024 to 2025, the Texas stores are part of a broader plan that includes 11 new stores across Texas and California.

In December 2023, the retailer announced its plan to open more than 20 stores across North America during 2024.

Its growth strategy focuses on both strengthening its presence in regions where the brand is already established and entering new markets.

UNIQLO USA CEO Yoshihide Shindo said: “We are thrilled to be coming to Texas, a state where we have seen positive customer demand and where UNIQLO LifeWear products can perfectly serve the needs of the various lifestyles and climates throughout Houston and Dallas.

“In addition to this incredibly momentous step for UNIQLO in the US and for our business globally, we are also furthering our commitment to the West Coast. We have been listening to our customers in these regions, where we have seen strong interest in e-commerce, and look forward to bringing them the full UNIQLO LifeWear experience when we open our doors this fall/winter.”

The brand’s commitment will be re-inforced with new stores in San Diego and Sacramento.

UNIQLO, which debuted in North America in 2005, operates 74 stores in the region currently.

The brand said that its North American operations turned a profit in the fiscal year 2022 and saw significant growth in the fiscal year ending 31 August 2023.

UNIQLO, a division of the Japanese company Fast Retailing, operates 2,400 stores worldwide, spanning Japan, Asia, Europe and North America.
