US-based technology start-up Expese is planning to expand its on-going beta programme.
Since July, the retailer has been engaged in servicing its initial beta users of the online electronics rental service.
There are currently plans to increase the company’s user base by an additional 1,000 members in the Greater Boston area through the first half of next year.
Expese chief community officer Nic DiBella said: “By expanding our beta programme to a significantly larger geographic region, we can serve those more knowledgeable technology enthusiasts, people like our very own team, that are passionate about experiencing the latest and greatest electronics without breaking the bank.”
Expese founder and CEO Akash Modi previously operated Tab USA, which primarily sold electronics through retail locations, only to later shut them down and shift focus to an online platform.
Modi said: “As consumer technology becomes more complex and the product offerings more diverse, the standard retail experience of tinkering with the product for a few minutes on a showroom floor just doesn’t cut it any longer.
