Sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer Academy Sports + Outdoors (Acamedy Sport) has revealed plans to open its first location in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2023, this will be Academy Sports' second location in Virginia.

Spanning more than 77,000ft², the new store will offer a diverse range of sports and outdoor products. Some of the brands that will feature in the store include Nike, adidas, The North Face, Under Armour, Columbia and YETI.

In addition, the store will offer exclusive, private-label brands such as BCG, Freely, H2OX, Magellan Outdoors, Mosaic, O'Rageous, Redfield and R.O.W..

The store will also employ experts to assist customers in finding athletic and casual shoes, sports equipment and clothing.

The Fredericksburg store will offer an in-store service click & collect service, free shipping on online orders worth more than $25 and other convenient options.

Customers can also access in-store services such as free assembly on grills and bikes, scope mounting and the ability to purchase hunting and fishing licenses.

The opening of the Fredericksburg store is part of Academy Sports’ ongoing expansion effort.

It aims to open 13-15 stores this year and a total of 120-140 new stores by the end of 2027.
