Products will be shipped to the customer's home or office within a few days, facilitated by the company's EasyPay point-of-sale machines.

Apple is reportedly working on a new mode of delivery for its devices, aiming to offer a convenient home delivery option for customers who make purchases at its retail stores.

According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest 'Power On' newsletter, the new programme is called "EasyPay Online Ordering" and is set to debut in August.

EasyPay Online Ordering allows home delivery from Apple stores

The "EasyPay Online Ordering" programme will enable customers to buy products directly from an Apple store and have them shipped to their homes or offices.

When making a purchase in-store, customers will have the option to choose home delivery, and the product will be shipped to their specified location within a few days using Apple's EasyPay point-of-sale machines.

Apple's move to compete with online retailers

Apple's decision to introduce home delivery for customer orders marks a significant shift in its traditional sales approach. The company faces increasing competition from online retailers, notably Amazon.

By offering home delivery, Apple aims to gain an edge over these online competitors and provide a more convenient shopping experience for customers who reside far from an Apple Store.

The new programme could also help Apple reduce the amount of in-store stock it needs to maintain.

EasyPay Online Ordering and Vision Pro headset speculations

The EasyPay Online Ordering programme's implications go beyond home delivery convenience.

Speculation by Mark Gurman suggests that this move could also pave the way for home delivery of Apple's first mixed reality headset, Vision Pro.

This headset offers various combinations of headbands, light seals and prescription lens inserts, making it potentially tedious and confusing for customers to find all components in stock at a retail store.

With the EasyPay Online Ordering strategy, Apple's staff can inform buyers that any missing item will be shipped directly to their doorstep, preventing the loss of high-value sales worth $3,500 or more.
