US retail tech provider CDE Solutions has partnered with Bodega AI to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled point-of-sale (POS) platform for independent merchants.
The platform, Chexit AI Powered by Bodega AI POS, combines Bodega AI’s software with CDE Solutions’ payment-processing framework.
It supports credit, debit and electronic benefit transfer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programme (EBT SNAP) payments.
Beyond payment processing, the system uses checkout data, inventory turnover and customer purchasing habits to generate recommendations on stock levels, product placement and slow-moving products, the statement said.
Bodega AI founder Jason Diaz added: “Most store owners are still running their business on the equivalent of a flip phone: a register that records sales but can not tell them what to do next.
“CDE Solutions has earned the trust of tens of thousands of independent merchants. Together, we are putting an AI POS on their counters that tells owners what products to carry, what to drop, and where they are leaving money on the table.”
The partnership targets independent retailers managing higher operating costs, labour shortages and shifting consumer purchasing behaviour.
The platform is intended to automate analysis of store data and inventory monitoring.
Bodega AI develops retail management software with automated scanning and inventory-tracking capabilities.
Its database includes more than 500,000 pre-populated products.
According to the statement, Bodega AI supports more than 1,500 merchants, which collectively process annual transaction volumes of more than $1bn.
CDE Solutions supplies retail POS infrastructure and transaction-processing services to more than 25,000 retailers nationwide.
Its services include credit, debit, EBT SNAP, over-the-counter payments and healthy food benefit programmes.
