UK-based co-operative group Co-op has announced plans to open its remodelled store in Longfield, Kent.

The 2,700ft² convenience store will reopen on Station Road on 13 July, following a four-week programme of works and improvements.

The reopened location in Longfield will offer an enhanced range of fresh and healthy products, everyday essentials, hot food, food-to-go, ready meals, meal ideas, Fairtrade products and plant-based products, including the company’s exclusive vegan range, GRO.

In addition, the store features a car park, a free ATM, an in-store bakery, a Costa coffee dispenser and an Amazon parcel collection service.

Customers can also access online home delivery and click and collect through Co-op’s online shop – shop.coop.co.uk.

The store will create 19 jobs for local communities.

Co-op store manager Jessica Payne said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to carry out a programme of works and improvements to better serve our community. We are looking forward to welcoming the community back into their new-look Co-op. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve the community conveniently.”

With sustainability in mind, Co-op installed a soft plastic recycling unit inside the store to encourage recycling.

Customers can dispose of crisp packets, bread bags, lids from ready meals, yoghurt pots, biscuit wrappers and pet food pouches in the unit.

Earlier this year, the company reopened its redesigned Gourock store in Scotland and established a new location in Havant, UK.
