US retailer Costco Wholesale has broadened its delivery arrangements in the US, partnering with DoorDash and Uber Eats to bring its products onto both platforms.

DoorDash has added Costco to its Marketplace on a nationwide basis, enabling Costco members to order groceries, pantry items, household goods, electronics, seasonal merchandise and Kirkland Signature products from Costco warehouses for same-day delivery.

This builds on a delivery arrangement between DoorDash and Costco already running in Australia, Iceland, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Sweden.

DoorDash said Costco had been among the "most-searched retailers" not previously offered on its platform.

DoorDash enterprise partnerships vice-president Mike Goldblatt said: “By pairing Costco’s quality, value and selection with DoorDash’s reach and local delivery network, we’re giving members more flexibility in how they shop. The US launch also marks the next chapter in a global partnership already serving Costco members around the world.”

Uber Technologies has, in a separate move, widened its US arrangement with Costco, lifting the retailer's presence on Uber Eats from 17 states to 47.

Close to 600 Costco warehouses can now be accessed via Uber Eats, with both immediate and scheduled delivery offered.

The broadened arrangement also brings additional perks for Costco members, who can qualify for an annual Uber One membership at half price for the first year, with a 20% reduction applying in the years that follow.

The Uber Eats arrangement in the US adds to an existing international tie-up between the two companies, which already extends to Canada, France, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Taiwan.

Under the Uber Eats arrangement, customers pick a Costco location within the app, add items to their basket, link their Costco membership during checkout, and opt for either on-demand or scheduled delivery.

Uber president and COO Andrew Macdonald added: “Costco is one of the largest and most trusted retailers in the country for good reason, and our nationwide partnership demonstrates the scale and opportunity Uber can bring to retailers looking to meet more of consumers’ everyday shopping needs.”
