Italian mountain gear manufacturer La Sportiva has unveiled its inaugural retail outlet in the US, situated at 2100 Broadway in Boulder, Colorado.

The store officially commenced operations on 2 January 2024, offering a diverse range of products from La Sportiva's extensive collection, including climbing and running shoes, ski touring gear, and premium apparel.

Described by Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America, as more than just a retail space, the Boulder store aims to become a focal point for the local outdoor community.

Positioned strategically at the intersection of Spruce and Broadway Streets, it aspires to be a gathering place for mountain athletes, fostering the exchange of passion, experiences, and knowledge about various outdoor sports.

Community-centric initiatives

Functioning as a community centre, the store plans to host events, workshops, and group runs, catering to individuals of all skill levels.

La Sportiva aims to create an inclusive space where beginners can learn, experts can share their insights, and everyone can engage with the quality and innovation inherent in the brand's mountain sports products.

Global expansion strategy

The Boulder store is a key component of La Sportiva's global bricks-and-mortar strategy, seeking to solidify the brand's presence in mountain towns worldwide.

This new location marks La Sportiva's first retail venture in North America, complementing its existing 12 stores scattered across iconic climbing and mountaineering towns in Europe.

With roots in the front range of Colorado since 1990, La Sportiva has established Boulder as its second hub outside of its Italian Dolomites headquarters.

The North American arm of the company, which began as a distributor, has grown and deepened its ties with the family-owned Italian brand.
