Supermarket chain Morrisons has entered a partnership with Instaleap, the e-commerce fulfilment provider owned by Instacart, to bolster its online ordering and in-store fulfilment capabilities.

Through Instaleap's technology, Morrisons will be able to manage orders from marketplace partners, including Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo, via a single, unified system.

The provider's in-store picking application will also equip Morrisons' store colleagues with tools to handle order picking and fulfilment “more efficiently”.

The collaboration builds on Morrisons' existing relationship with Instacart to deliver a more “seamless” shopping experience across both online and physical stores.

The agreement is part of Instacart's wider push to grow its enterprise platform on a global scale, covering e-commerce, fulfilment, in-store technology, retail media and AI-driven solutions.

Instaleap provides fulfilment and enablement tools intended to help retailers operate and scale their online grocery services, including marketplace integrations and fulfilment capabilities.

The company currently operates in close to 30 countries, working with nearly 80 grocery retailers and marketplaces.

Instacart acquired Instaleap in April to broaden its enterprise retail technology offering across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

The acquisition was designed to strengthen Instacart's presence beyond North America and accelerate the international rollout of its enterprise technology products.

The Morrisons deal follows a partnership Instaleap established last month with Spar Slovenia to operate the supermarket chain's e-commerce fulfilment platform.

That collaboration supports Spar Slovenia's digital and omnichannel strategy in the Slovenian market, with the retailer integrating Instaleap's platform into its existing online grocery operations.

The tools are intended to “standardise workflows, improve visibility into store-level operations, and coordinate delivery resources more efficiently across its network”.
