Supermarket chain Tesco has reduced the prices of more than 500 household essentials, summer favourites and healthy foods.

The company has said that it is reducing the prices of the items by an average of 13% to provide value to weekly shopping customers.

Products affected by the price cuts include Tinned Tuna, 400g Block Cheddar, Red Grapes, Strawberry/Raspberry Jam (454g), Frozen Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries & Mango.

Tesco chief product officer Ashwin Prasad said: “We know that more than ever, our customers are looking for great value and this huge round of price cuts on 500 key household essentials will help their budgets go a little further.

“With price cuts on products like grapes, peppers, rice and tuna, customers will find it’s even cheaper to eat healthily with Tesco this summer.

“And we’ll continue to work closely with our suppliers to pass on price cuts to our customers whenever we can.”

The latest announcement comes after Tesco reduced the price of key household essentials such as bread, butter, cooking oil and milk.

Last week, UK-based supermarket chain Sainsbury’s confirmed that it will invest £15m ($19.09m) to reduce the prices of household staples and help customers manage their budgets.

Multinational retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) also dropped or locked the prices of more than 200 food products as part of its pledge to provide value to customers.
