Tata Group-owned Trent's standalone revenue from operations rose 23% year-on-year in Q2 FY27.

The retailer's standalone revenue for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 was Rs57.88bn ($608m).

Operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 37% to Rs7.91bn while profit after tax (PAT) increased 9% to Rs4.9bn.

Other income in Q2 FY26 had included a pre-tax profit of Rs960m from asset sales, but the equivalent figure this year was not material.

For the first half of FY27, standalone revenue grew 21% to Rs114.54bn, operating EBITDA rose 37% to Rs16.38bn and PAT increased 17% to Rs10.21bn.

Consolidated Q2 revenue was Rs58.73bn, up 22%, while consolidated PAT rose 25% to Rs4.68bn.

Trent opened ten Westside and 19 Zudio stores in the quarter, a period that also saw the opening of its 1,000th Zudio store.

It now operates more than 1,300 large-box fashion stores across 339 cities, with three located in the UAE.

Trent chairman Noel N Tata said: “Our brands experienced solid traction during the quarter. It was encouraging to witness a more robust consumer sentiment despite the relatively inflationary backdrop.

“We are increasingly expanding our presence across diverse markets, including in many Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations. The compelling reception we are witnessing gives us the conviction to double down into more hinterlands.”

Its food and grocery business, Star, added one store to reach 87 across 13 cities, and its revenue rose by more than 20% in the quarter.

On Star, Tata said: “In our Star business, we continue to apply Trent’s playbook and the contribution of our own brands and products is now trending at over 74% of revenues.”

In a separate announcement, Trent said Tata would retire from his position on 11 November 2026.

Bahram Vakil will succeed Tata as chairman from 12 November, when the former chairman, who has served for 29 years, will become chairman emeritus.

Marking the end of his term, Tata said: “I firmly believe that Trent’s best days lie ahead.”
