Walmart has expanded its Online Pickup and Delivery service to introduce late-night delivery and enhance the overall shopping experience for customers.

The retail giant aims to prioritise convenience, speed and customer-centricity through these new offerings.

Late-Night Express Delivery: Walmart now offers Express Delivery until 10PM for orders placed by 9:30PM, ensuring that last-minute needs are delivered promptly.

This service caters to various urgent requirements such as replenishing kids' favourite gummy vitamins or replacing a broken hairdryer. Customers can expect their orders to arrive just in time.

Live shopper feature

A new Live Shopper feature facilitates real-time text communication between customers and personal shoppers. This feature enables customers to discuss substitutions or add items to their orders even at the last minute.

It enhances the online shopping experience, making it feel like texting a friend for assistance while they shop in-store.

On-Demand Delivery

Walmart's Pickup and Delivery innovation focuses on putting the customer in control. Same-day delivery options are available for those who prefer to receive their orders later in the day or early the next day.

This approach offers maximum convenience without requiring customers to leave their homes.

Express Delivery

This is suitable for urgent needs, with delivery as fast as 30 minutes and up to 90 minutes. This option is perfect for situations like running out of diapers or needing a replacement game controller during a critical gaming session.

Walmart+ InHome

Walmart+ members can opt for InHome delivery, a premium service that delivers items directly to their fridge or countertop. InHome even provides pickup services for customer returns, making it a comprehensive white-glove experience.

InHome is currently available in 46 markets, including Miami, Dallas and San Francisco. It serves 35 million households and has gained popularity among seniors and busy families.

Choosing your delivery style

Customers can easily access these services by using the Walmart app or website. They can select between pickup or delivery and choose their preferred time slot.

With a wide range of more than 200,000 items available in-store, customers can conveniently browse and select products ranging from fashion and furniture to food and more.

Traditional AI is here to stay in the retail and apparel space

Initially, retailers used AI for basic tasks, including inventory management and demand forecasting. However, its usage has now become more prevalent in other aspects such as personalized marketing, customer service, pricing optimization, and supply chain management. With the rise of ecommerce and the increasing importance of data-driven decision-making, AI adoption in retail and apparel has accelerated. The industry now relies on AI to enhance the shopping experience, optimize business operations, and gain an overall competitive edge.
