US-based online alcohol retailer and on-demand delivery platform Drizly has partnered with convenience retail chain 7-Eleven to launch an expedited alcohol delivery service.

Drizly will deliver alcohol to customers of the legal drinking age within an hour.

The service will be provided at more than 1,200 7-Eleven stores across Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

It is being rolled out following a successful trial in 190 stores.

Customers can place their orders through the Drizly mobile app or on Drizly.com.

7-Eleven senior vice-president and chief operating officer Raghu Mahadevan said: “We are constantly looking for ways to give our customers the most convenient and seamless shopping experience possible. Drizly is helping us get one step closer to this goal.

“We are proud to roll out this collaboration to additional store locations nationwide, adding to our existing alcohol delivery footprint and further showcasing our wide selection of adult beverages for customers to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.”

In the coming months, Drizly and 7-Eleven plan to expand the service to more than 2,000 stores across the US.

The partnership increases the number of Drizly retailers in the US to more than 5,500.

Drizly chief operating officer Cathy Lewenberg said: “We are incredibly excited to partner with the nation’s leading convenience retailer to further our mission of being the go-to place for people to shop alcohol.

“Drizly offers customers the most convenient way to browse and buy the best selection of beer, wine and spirits online, and collaborating with 7-Eleven expands the ease of our on-demand alcohol delivery to new markets and regions across North America.”

In August, 7‑Eleven partnered with on-demand alcohol delivery service provider Minibar Delivery to deliver alcohol across the US.

Customers aged 21 years or older can place orders through the Minibar Delivery mobile app or website, with orders delivered in 30 to 60 minutes or as arranged by the customer.
