Featuring Apple’s latest retail design updates, the new store is situated adjacent to the previous location on Taikoo Li’s open square.

It is twice the size of the previous one and launches a number of firsts for the company in the country.

Apple Retail + People senior vice-president Deirdre O’Brien said: “This store sets a new standard for Apple Retail in China and we’re thrilled to build on our history in Beijing.

“We look forward to operating Apple Sanlitun, and all of our stores around the world, with the health and safety of our customers and teams as our top priority.”

Apple Sanlitun features a Forum, Viewing Gallery and Boardroom, as well as the company’s first integrated solar array in a retail store.

The Forum is designed to host some of Beijing’s greatest artists, musicians, while the Viewing Gallery offers a vantage point for the outdoor square.

Boardroom will be used to offer personal advice and guidance to local businesses and entrepreneurs.

The store also offers sufficient room for customers to meet with a Genius or experience Today at Apple.

Opened in 2008, the original Apple Sanlitun welcomed more than 22 million visitors. The store now has 185 team members.

In February, Apple chief executive Tim Cook during the annual shareholders’ meeting revealed its plan to open its first retail locations in India next year.
