Supermarket chain Asda has teamed up with Pharmacy2U, a National Health Service (NHS)-approved online pharmacy, to launch the Asda Online Pharmacy, an online prescription service in the UK.

Asda is the first UK supermarket to offer an online prescription service.

The platform allows patients to manage and order their prescriptions digitally for home delivery at no additional cost.

Customers can register at pharmacy.asda.com and will then be able to order prescriptions conveniently and track their deliveries.

Prescriptions will undergo thorough checking by qualified pharmacists before being delivered directly to patients’ homes.

In addition to home delivery, Asda plans to introduce a click-and-collect option from its 232 pharmacy locations at a future date.

Asda Pharmacy’s head of pharmacy and superintendent pharmacist Faisal Tuddy said: “We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our online prescription delivery service with Pharmacy2U. By launching this platform, we are now able to reach even more Asda customers across the country, some of whom may not have an Asda Pharmacy nearby.

“We know how important it is for families to be able to simply access their repeat prescriptions without having to worry. This expansion ensures greater convenience for our patients, who can now easily access these services online.”

In 2022 pharmaceutical retailer Boots, a part of the Walgreens Boots Alliance, teamed up with medical drone start-up Apian to pilot drone deliveries of prescription-only medicines in the UK.

In April 2024 Asda introduced Asda Rewards Baby and Toddler Club, a new initiative designed to offer support to parents.
