French retailer Carrefour has partnered with Spanish on-demand delivery firm Glovo to offer a 30-minute home grocery delivery service.
Starting early October, the service will commence in France, Spain, Italy, and Argentina.
For the initial launch, the retailer has selected Paris in France; Sevilla and Valencia in Spain; Milan and Rome in Italy; and Buenos Aires in Argentina.
The deal is part of the company’s plans to develop a new omnichannel model and expand its presence in food e-commerce. It also complements the retailer’s existing services, including Express Delivery in France.
Glove will expand its business in the grocery segment and strengthen its geographic footprint.
Customers can shop from a range of 2,500 products on the Glovo platform and place the order.
The orders will be collected by Glovo couriers from any of the Carrefour Market, Carrefour City and Express stores, and delivered by bicycle or scooter in 30 minutes.
Carrefour ecommerce data and digital transformation executive director Amélie Oudéa-Castéra said: “Carrefour is constantly looking for ways to deliver innovative services that make customers’ daily shopping experience easier.
“With this new partnership, Glovo and Carrefour will offer a 30-minute home delivery service that complements their existing e-commerce offers and allows them to address the needs of new customers.”
Carrefour also plans to expand the service to more cities based on the country in the coming months.
Earlier this month, Carrefour France selected AI-enabled decision platform Symphony RetailAI to implement its warehouse replenishment, inventory flow optimisation and supply chain insights solutions.
