Champions Village, a premier shopping destination located in the Houston Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), is buzzing with activity as it welcomes new tenants, bolstering its leasing momentum.

First National Realty Partners (FNRP), a national private equity commercial real estate firm, recently completed lease transactions for more than 54,000ft² of space. This marks a significant step in revitalising the shopping centre.

Lowe’s outlet debuts in Houston

In a significant move, Lowe’s, a national home improvement retailer, opened its first and only outlet store in Houston at Champions Village.

This new Lowe’s outlet occupies the former 41,453ft² space that was previously Stein Mart. The addition of Lowe’s is seen as a positive development, not just for Champions Village but for the surrounding community as well.

This expansion is in line with the shopping centre’s business plan and Lowe’s Outlet officially opened its doors on 13 October 2023.

FNRP chief revenue officer Fred Battisti expressed their excitement about this partnership, stating: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Lowe’s to bring their outlet concept to Champions Village. We are proud to bring a best-in-class operator to the shopping centre that serves our niche of necessity-based retail.”

Hibbett Sports expands its presence

Hibbett Sports, a prominent athletic-inspired fashion retailer, is set to open its seventh Hibbett/City Gear location within FNRP’s portfolio at Champions Village. This expansion is expected to further enhance the shopping experience for patrons. The store is projected to open in 2024.

FNRP executive vice-president of leasing, anchors and accounts Sam Collier noted:

“We are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with Hibbett Sports and help them bring their new location to the Houston community.” This move underlines Champions Village’s commitment to offering diverse retail options.

The greasy spoon to serve up soul food

Adding to the exciting mix of tenants, The Greasy Spoon, a soul food-inspired restaurant, is also set to open its doors in the near future. This will be the fourth location of The Greasy Spoon in the Houston MSA, reflecting the restaurant’s rapid growth in popularity and size.

The establishment garnered attention after being featured on Food Network’s television show, Food Paradise.

FNRP vice-president of leasing David Roth said: “The addition of these world-class operators presents us with the opportunity to not just fill a large portion of vacancies at the center but provide the Houston community with a diverse, high-quality shopping experience.”

In addition to these exciting new additions, Champions Village has extended long-term leases with existing tenants Randalls and Barnes and Noble. The leasing team is also in negotiations with another national retailer to fill the former 13,688ft² Tuesday Morning space.
