Indian online retailer Flipkart has inaugurated a new grocery fulfilment centre in Hubli, its third in the Indian state of Karnataka.

The 60,000ft² facility is equipped to handle 9,000 orders daily, serving Hubli and neighbouring areas in the state of Goa.

The new centre highlights Flipkart’s strategy of providing convenient access to a wide range of grocery products including dairy, beverages and staples.

The Hubli centre will offer a curated selection of 6,000 products featuring popular local brands alongside national ones.

The development meets growing demand for online groceries in Hubli, which has seen a 15% monthly increase.

The retailer is also focussed on the livelihood opportunities of local sellers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and farming communities in the region.

Flipkart Group chief corporate affairs officer Rajneesh Kumar stated: “The launch of our third grocery fulfilment centre in Karnataka has significantly improved Flipkart’s proximity to consumers in the state, ensuring easy access to fresh groceries.

“It further bolsters our commitment to providing next-day deliveries of daily essentials to consumers at their doorstep. At Flipkart, we stay dedicated to making everyone a part of India’s digital journey while boosting the local economies.

“By strengthening our strategic partnership with farmer producer organisations and strategic investments in the state, we will continue to facilitate market entry for thousands of local MSMEs, small businesses and farmers.”

The opening of the Hubli centre comes one day after Flipkart opened a new fulfilment centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The 77,000ft² facility is capable of processing 8,000 orders per day and will generate 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In February 2024, Flipkart launched a new 1,13,000ft² grocery fulfilment centre in Malda, West Bengal.
