North American travel retailer Hudson will open its second Hudson Nonstop concept store at Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW).
The checkout-free store, due to open later this year, will be powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out Technology.
Hudson Nonstop in MDW has been developed in partnership with the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and Midway Partnership.
The store is part of the airport’s concessions redevelopment programme to transform shopping and dining options across its two concourses.
Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology lets travellers pick up travel essentials and leave the store without standing in checkout lines or stopping to pay in-store.
Hudson executive vice-president and chief operating officer Brian Quinn said: “Hudson Nonstop is really all about the travellers. We’re delivering what they want, how they want it.

By GlobalData“Our first store is proving that travellers are embracing this innovative new concept, so we’re thrilled to announce our second location opening this year.
“MDW is an ideal location for the concept store given Chicago’s fast-paced lifestyle, and we know travellers there will enjoy just how easy it is to ‘grab and go’ in this contactless and checkout-free environment.”
A Dufry Company, Hudson operates more than 1,000 stores in airports, commuter hubs, landmarks and tourist locations across North America.
The first Hudson Nonstop store opened at Dallas Love Field Airport in February.
Last month, Hudson opened six shops at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
