Global apparel retailer Primark, a subsidiary of Associated British Foods, has opened a new store at City Point in Brooklyn, New York.

Primark City Point store occupies a retail space of 49,000ft2 and offers the brand’s latest trends and everyday essentials for the whole family including clothing, homewares, and gifts for customers in downtown Brooklyn.

This is the second of the three stores Primark has planned to open in New York by the end of this year.

Last month, the retailer opened its first store at Roosevelt Field in Garden City.

The latest opening in City Point takes Primark’s total store portfolio to five in New York and represents its 16th store in the US.

The retailer plans to reach 60 stores in the country by 2026.

Primark City Point is also one of ten new stores the retailer planned to open in the US by next year and marks the brand’s 416th store.

Primark US president Kevin Tulip said: “New Yorkers have been experiencing ‘Primania’ more than ever this season and we are so excited to add the City Point community to our growing family here in the US.

“The customer reaction to our four other NY-metro stores has shown that there is an overwhelming desire for Primark’s offering and price leadership and this location will allow us to bring that to an influential group of shoppers in Brooklyn and one subway stop away in Manhattan.”

Last month, Primark announced plans to invest £140m ($168.5m) in its UK store portfolio over the next two years.

Recently, the retailer opened its first store in Romania at ParkLake Shopping Centre, Bucharest.
