Approximately 900 workers at Amazon’s warehouse in Coventry are set to hold a three-day strike later this week.

The announcement was made by the British general trade union GMB.

The strike, which is being staged over a pay dispute, will take place between 11 and 13 July at the Coventry warehouse for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, GMB told Reuters in an emailed statement.

This three-day strike will coincide with the e-commerce giant’s “Prime Day” sales event, which is scheduled to take place on 11 and 12 July.

The long-running dispute between Amazon and its workers is associated with the employees’ demands to increase their pay to £15 ($19.22) an hour.

According to Sky News, the starting pay of an Amazon employee is somewhere between £11 and £12 per hour, based on their work location.

The report said that the Coventry warehouse site is not responsible for providing customer-facing operations and will not impact or disrupt order deliveries and other customer services.

In June of this year, GMB announced that the Coventry warehouse workers voted for six more months of strikes. The first strike after this announcement was staged on 12, 13 and 14 June.

More than 560 Amazon workers participated in a three-day strike in April, fighting over the same issue of increasing pay.
